Privacy & analytics

MacVM’s website and the MacVM application have different data flows. Optional website analytics helps us understand how people find the site and which download links they use.

Your analytics choice

Google Analytics loads only after you select Accept. Rejecting it does not affect browsing or downloading MacVM. You can change your choice here at any time.

Optional Google Analytics is off until you accept.

What optional analytics measures

With your permission, Google Analytics receives page visits and download-link clicks, along with technical information such as browser/device details and approximate location derived by Google from the connection. Analytics cookies help distinguish visits. A click does not tell us whether an app download or installation finished.

We send the page address without query parameters or fragments, and only the referring site’s origin. Our download events contain the type of download and where the link appeared. We do not send names, email addresses, account IDs, or information from your virtual machines. Advertising storage, ad personalization, and Google Signals are disabled.

Your choice is stored in this browser for up to 180 days. Analytics cookies are configured for up to 180 days and can be renewed during permitted use. Turning analytics off stops further optional measurement and removes this site’s Google Analytics cookies; it does not erase data previously processed by Google. You can also clear site data in your browser.

See how Google uses information from partner sites for more about its processing.

Hosting and downloads

Cloudflare serves and protects this website. Its existing performance telemetry is separate from the optional Google Analytics choice. Hosting requests can include technical connection information such as IP address, browser headers, and requested URLs. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

Downloads and project links lead to GitHub, whose privacy statement applies there.

The MacVM app

The MacVM app does not enable telemetry. Virtual machines stay on your drives; folder and clipboard sharing are opt-in. Downloads and update checks connect to the relevant installer providers and GitHub. Website analytics does not measure activity inside your guests. Details are in the project documentation.
